The Naked & The Nude : Make-up for Neutral Lovers

I’m what they call a ‘basic bitch’ in terms of make-up, I love my neutral tones and that super bright new Urban Decay palette everyone is raving about would terrify me. I know I’m not alone so I thought I’d just combine some of my favourite nudey products into one blog post, mainly just so I can admire them all together.

The Lipsticks
Ok, so I can hardly say I’m shy on the lipstick front – I do love a bright and bold red but recently I’ve also gone crazy for the nudes. Listed left to right in the photo are; Kate Moss Rimmel 03, Revlon 013, L’oreal Doutzen’s nude, L’oreal Cheryl’s nude, a MAC Shy Girl and finally, MAC creme cup. They’re a good mix of brown, peach and pink nudes which I like to use according to my tone of neutral eye make-up. I did have swatches for them all but sadly they came out extremely blurry and couldn’t be used.

The Eyeshadows
I’ve chosen three different single shadows which all have different tones. The left shadow in the photo is All That Glitters by MAC which is a champagne coloured neutral, perfect for any skin tones. The middle shadow is MAC Jest which I got yesterday and it’s so insanely pretty on the lids, it’s a more white toned neutral. Finally the right-hand shade is Urban Decay Easy Baked which is a shimmery gold.
Obviously I had to include the naked palettes, I’ve added the original and the 3rd palette which are my favourites.

The Nails
I could only choose two nude shades that work for me and don’t wash out my pale hands, they’re both by Nails Inc and the shades are (L-R) Belgravia Gardens and Porchester Square. Both are brown toned nudes but Porchester Square is lighter and more beige.

I’d love to know your favourite nude products. Happy Thursday! X

Bright Spring Lipstick Picks

20140301-100508.jpg

20140301-100554.jpg

20140301-100625.jpg
March has officially arrived and greeted me with blue skies and frost, just the way I like it. For me, March just feels more ‘Springy’ and makes me want to whip out the bright colours which is why I’ve kicked off the month with a lipstick post filled with my most craved shades. They look quite similar but if you’re a lipstick junkie, that slight change in tone of a lipstick means it’s a completely different colour altogether.

MAC Chatterbox

20140301-101259.jpg
This is the kind of shade that I completely forget about during the Winter months and as soon as Spring hits, it’s straight back out. I’m not a huge fan on pink lips on myself, but this one is a cute dusky pink which isn’t too bright or Barbie-esque.
MAC Impassioned

20140301-101459.jpg
This is a bright coral toned pink and another shade of pink I like, the coral tones make it more vivid and I do love my bright lipsticks. I imagine this to look lovely on all skin-tones.
MAC Lady Danger

20140301-101722.jpg
I think this is always my most used lipstick in Spring, I like a good red lip any time of year but this one has orange tones in it, making it brighter and for some reason, more Summery. The best thing about it is how white it makes my teeth look.
MAC Morange

20140301-102003.jpg
17 Hot Chilli

20140301-102030.jpg
This lipstick was a bit of a bargain, and it’s like a muted down version of Lady Danger, which is nice for days you don’t want a really bright lip. Again, it’s a good alternative to red with coral undertones in it.
Kate Moss Rimmel 110

20140301-102155.jpg
I absolutely adore this shade, definitely one if my favourite Kate Moss lipsticks. It seems to have a perfect cocktail of pink, orange and red creating this gorgeous and quite unique coral shade. I don’t own anything else like it and it really makes my make-up pop.

Happy March! x

November Loves

20131128-120138.jpg
This is probably the most exciting monthly favourites I’ve done all year, not because of the products I’ve chosen but because it means December is just around the corner; which also means Christmas. I try and keep my excitement level to a minimum throughout November and on December 1st, everything Christmas related becomes acceptable. Hope you all have your advent calendars ready, I sadly didn’t get a beauty one so I treated myself to two chocolate ones. I could talk about this for paragraphs and paragraphs so I’m going to be quiet on the Christmas front…for now.
I had a shocking amount of favourites this month because I had a few beauty bits for my birthday so I cut it down to a small amount of things that I’ve literally been obsessing over, otherwise I’d be here all day.

Essie ‘Bobbing For Baubles

20131128-120630.jpg
I did a separate post on this nail polish, along with the Essie Bahama Mama one but this one came out trumps for me. I absolutely love it, it’s a gorgeous deep navy blue with a grey tint and I’ve been wearing it pretty much every day in November.

Maybelline ColourShow ‘Noite De Gal’

20131128-120934.jpg
Another nail polish, this one by Maybelline is a beautiful dark purple which is my new favourite toe colour. I was looking for the perfect autumn toe purple colour and this one fell onto my lap when my gorgeous friend bought it for me for my birthday.

Illamasqua Freak Perfume

20131128-121253.jpg
This perfume has been in a favourites before and it’s back again. I can’t get enough of it, it’s hard to explain but if you like scents like Armani code, alien, or just powerful and almost masculine spicy scents then you might like this. It’s extremely unique and a lot of people ask me what I have on when I’m wearing it.

Daniel Sandler Waterproof Eyeliner*

20131128-121532.jpg
This eyeliner is my new Holy Grail pencil liner, I love it that much. It’s in a grey colour and I think it really makes my green eyes pop (they have other colours). When they say waterproof, they’re not kidding; it doesn’t budge, I swatched it on the back of my hand and even that was a struggle to remove. I’ll be doing a full review on it soon.

MAC Cranberry Eyeshadow

20131128-121848.jpg
I’m jumping straight on the Cranberry hype bandwagon with this eyeshadow, probably one of MAC’s most popular. I can see why, it’s beautiful. I’m a safe neutral-brown eyeshadow wearer but this is still safe and adds a little colour which can be built up as much as you like.

Thanks for reading! have a lovely day x

Current Make-up Bag : Autumn/Winter

20131111-154518.jpg

20131111-154526.jpg
Everytime a new season takes place, I tend to switch up items in my make-up bag. As some of you have probably guessed, I have far too many beauty products but by switching them up regularly, I’m using pretty much all of them. I promise. The colder months bring out my more Luxurious products whilst in the Summer I think the high-street is at it’s best with prettier colours. So here are the current contents of my daily make-up bag:
1. Garnier moisturiser – This is the matte version of the range and whilst I wasn’t fussy on it at first due to the weird bumpy texture, it’s not so bad and I’m using it up. I still prefer the yellow one of the range.
2. Laura Mercier Foundation a Primer – This is the oil-free version because I’m an oily beast and it’s lovely. It helps my foundation glide on smoothly and keeps it in place for several hours.
3. Estée Lauder a Double Wear foundation – I very rarely change this, it’s my holy grail foundation. I love the coverage, texture and finish of it more than any others I’ve tried.
4. Estée Lauder Double Wear concealer – This is a fantastic partner for my double wear foundation.
5. NARS One Night Stand Cheek palette – I recently did a post on this, I use the Laguna bronzer, one of the four blushers (mostly orgasm) and the highlighter.
6. MAC eyes – As you can tell, I’m loving MAC eyeshadows at the moment. I love Painterly Paint pot for the base, all that glitters for my lids and then either Espresso or Cranberry in my crease.
7. Collection liquid liner – This is the best liquid liner I’ve tried and I’m having a break from gel liner.
8. Tom Ford Extreme mascara – I was lucky enough to have this mascara for my birthday, it’s the best mascara I’ve ever used, I just dislike the price tag.
9. HD Brows kit – I am forever in love with this for my brows.

OOTD : Polkadot & Leather

20131104-140055.jpg

20131104-140225.jpg
The weather is insanely gorgeous today, it’s quite cold but the skies are blue and the sun is out in full blast. Everything looks so much prettier when the leaves have fallen too, I’m very much in a wintery mood. I apologise for the weird lighting in the photo, it was too sunny for a change.
I’m wearing a Dorothy Perkins polka dot collar dress with tights and H&M boots, then I have my Topshop leather jacket over the top with my favourite Mulberry Tillie bag.
As usual, I have red lips and it’s MAC Ruby Woo.

Happy Monday! x

MAC Cranberry Eyeshadow Look

20131031-154940.jpg

20131031-154950.jpg
I was lucky enough to get the eyeshadow I’ve been after for a long time for my birthday, which is MAC Cranberry, it’s a lovely reddish, browny cranberry colour that’s perfect for this time of year. I was worried it would be too ‘brave’ for me as I’m a complete brown and neutral eye lover but I love it and think it’s one of those colours that’s perfect for those who aren’t brave enough to go really bold.
This is the look I like to create with this eyeshadow and I’ll list step by step on how I achieved it.
1. I applied MAC Painterly paint pot all over my lids
2. I then took MAC cranberry eyeshadow and packed it generously onto my lids
3. I then used a MAC 217 blending brush and blended this out into the crease
4. Next I took a matte black eyeshadow and used an Avon crease brush to draw a V shape on the outer corners, I then blended this in so it wasn’t sharp or defined anymore
5. I then took cranberry again and applied it under my lower lash line.
6. Finally, I added mascara and liquid liner.

Hope you all have a lovely evening xx

Regretful Buys

20131021-124939.jpg
I’m not a huge fan of writing these posts, I love to read them but I’d rather write about products that have made me a happy bunny. However, I’ve accumulated some products I don’t really get any use out of for various reasons whilst having a little clear out.

Umberto Giannini
I have two products from his range that I’m not fussy on, the root boost volume and the Backcomb in a bottle. I was particularly excited about Backcomb in a bottle because a few friends raved about it and who doesn’t love volume in their hair? Like most of these volume sprays, they made my hair dry and crispy, as if I’d sprayed too much hairspray. Ok yes that did mean my hair stayed in place but I like silky and soft hair. They both did the same thing for me and although they’re not terrible, they give you that messy beach look, I don’t reach for them ever and they’ve been sitting collecting dust on my desk.
James Brown Heat Protect Spray
There is nothing wrong with this, it’s meant to just protect your hair from heat but I’ve found so many better products for cheaper. It smells amazing though.
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser
I used to love this when I bought it because it removes make-up really well, however I don’t think it actually does anything for my skin besides remove make-up.
YSL Pure Rouge Shine Lipstick Number 18
What was I thinking? This lipstick is brown and glittery. It’s actually hideous on me but back when I was 16 I clearly thought I looked amazing. I don’t know why I still have it, I guess I find it hard to throw any YSL products away.
BarryM Nail Paint in 342 Nude
I love BarryM nail polishes but this one really doesn’t show up on my nails much and it’s not a flattering colour on me. I can imagine it looking gorgeous on tanned hands.
BarryM Lip Lacquer Crayon No.3
Sorry BarryM, I do love you I promise but this lip crayon was atrocious on me, it’s red and very glittery but makes me look like a 5 year old trying on their mums makeup.
MAC Lip Pencil in Naked Liner
I love MAC Lip pencils, they’re worth the money but this one doesn’t show up on my lips at all, it doesn’t even show up when I swatch it on my hand. It’s way too pale for me

OOTD : Skirts & Macs

20131018-141428.jpg

20131018-142034.jpg

20131018-142132.jpg

20131018-142410.jpg

20131018-144529.jpg
I’m obsessed with my mac from Topshop, it’s there quarter lengths which means it’s perfect for this inbetween weather right now and I love the checked cuff area. The skirt is also Topshop, the wrap blouse is New Look, the boots are Primark and the bag is from Aliexpress.
For the make-up it’s red lipstick again and it’s MAC chili which is a darker, more autumnal red and try to ignore the pouting face.
Happy friday! woohooo!

Autumn/Winter Beauty & Fashion Staples

20131015-122453.jpg
I was going to do a separate post for beauty and fashion items but I feel like I’ve harped on about seasonal related stuff enough now and will combine them together. This post is just showing all the stuff I’m most excited about when the weather gets colder, obviously I will live in coats and jumpers but I’m just going to include little things that will really perk me up (not that I need perking up, winter is my forte).

20131015-122831.jpg
I tend to go for spicier and stronger scents in the winter and move away from florals. I think any perfume can be worn any time of year, especially if you have a signature scent but I can’t help but lean towards these three which have become my cold weather fragrances.
Alien is my favourite perfume, ever. It’s a very controversial one due to the strong and pretty unique smell but I’m obsessed. If I smell it anywhere out in public I’ll proudly think ‘someone is wearing alien’ and it reminds me why I love it so much. Chanel chance is the perfect Autumn one for me because my boyfriend’s mum bought it me for my birthday last October. It’s precious and I only use it on special occasions usually but will wear it more through Autumn/winter. Illamasqua Freak is on the same scale as Alien, it’s very weird and quite masculine. It’s a very hard one to explain but I love.

20131015-123601.jpg
Make-up wise, I pretty much stick with the same face products all year round except I may switch up my blusher. MAC’s Pinch Me blush is my favourite for Autumn and Winter, it’s a warm reddish tone colour which can easily be overdone and look muddy but if brushed lightly on the cheeks, it gives a healthy shot of colour.
I didn’t add many lip colours because I did a separate post on lipsticks for Autumn (told you I harped on about it). I did forget about my beloved Guerlain Garconne lipstick which is the perfect red. Guerlain lipsticks are beautiful (hello best packaging ever) and this colour just reminds me of Christmas (yes, there we go, the C word accidentally came out).
I added this Revlon lipgloss in the shade ‘Snow Pink’ partly because of the name, and partly because it has such pretty glitter in it that makes it all festive. It’s a pearly pink colour and works great on its own.
The two eye products are both MAC, the Tan loose pigment is so beautiful, it’s the perfect copper colour and MAC Let’s Skate is a gorgeous shimmery pink cream shadow which I used in my last post.
I’ve been using a burgundy colour pencil liner for my waterline from eyeko but it doesn’t say the name of it anywhere. It’s just a nice alternative to black or brown.
I also used the collection glitter eyeliner in my last post and it’s the perfect way to add some glitter to the eyes without looking 5 years old.

20131015-124454.jpg
My favourite nail polishes for this season are; Illamasqua Raindrops, Rimmel Urban Purple, Lola Military Khaki and OPI Polka.com.

20131015-124709.jpg
On to my favourite part, the fashion bits.

20131015-124806.jpg
Nike blazers, I know they’re such a cliche, or at least they were but they might be completely out of trend now. I still really like mine, they even have my name on the back because my boyfriend bought me them for Christmas last year. He tried to put ‘Adidas’ on the back to be ‘hilarious’ but they wouldn’t allow it, he also tried various rude words which also wasn’t allowed so I’m thankful to just have my name on them.
I’m obsessed with leather and I’ve bought a faux leather pleated skirt from the New Look sale which I plan to wear with tights and boots.
The scarf is very Burberry-esque which my mum bought me from Spain, I’m obsessed with Tartan, particularly beige tartan rather than red.

20131015-125224.jpg
I’m most excited about bobble hats, it means I don’t have to wash my hair. I’m joking, kind of. They’re just so effortless and cute.
I’ve added a black thin jumper which has a crossover back from River Island because I’m going to wear it with my chunky Topshop necklace.
Sorry but the pyjamas needed a mention, they’re super soft Gilly Hicks pyjama bottoms and I much prefer winter nightwear.
