Bright Smokey Eye Using Naked 1 Palette

I did a similar post to this recently and it turned out to be one of my most viewed and liked posts so far which I was so shocked by – I adore all things beauty related but when it comes to applying products and doing different make-up looks, I’m pretty average. I was a little nervous about posting it because I know some of you guys are so so good at doing make-up but as usual, you were all extremely lovely and supportive.
Anyway, I’ve decided to do another one on different look that I love doing which is a bright smokey eye, I know that sounds a little silly, surely a smokey eye is supposed to be dark not bright? When I do my ‘smokey eye’ look, I like to focus all the smokiness on my outer corner and keep the inside and the lid brighter so my eyes look bigger. I’ve used the Urban Decay original Naked Palette for this look.

These are the specific colours I used in order as marked by the X; Venus, Sin, Naked, Buck and Creep.

Firstly, I applied Urban Decay Primer Potion to my lids and then used Sin all over the lid which is a really pretty and shimmery base colour. I then took Naked which is a matte pale beige colour and applied that to my crease using a fluffy blending brush, Buck goes amazingly well with Naked because it’s a darker brown matte shade so I applied that to my outer corners and then under my eye to connect it with the outer corner to make a cat eye sort of shape, I took a clean brush and blended all this together. Finally, I used a tiny bit of Creep which is a shimmery black shade and applied this on the outer V of my eye using a crease brush before highlighting my brow bone and inner corners with Venus.

For the rest of the look, I lined my waterline with M.A.C Coffee eyeliner and used Collection 2000 liquid liner for my lids before curling my lashes and coating them with YSL Shocking mascara.

My Official Top 5 Beauty Picks

20130601-205021.jpg
My friend recently asked me the unthinkable question “What would be your top five products EVER?”
This is a horrific little question and I looked at her like she was crazy and refused to answer without giving this some serious thought. It’s taken me some time and consideration but I’ve chosen the top five products based on the ones I don’t think I could live without. I have a lot of cosmetics, plenty of pretty lipsticks and lipglosses, loads of mascaras that I adore and tonnes of nail polishes but the products I’ve chosen are more the ones I don’t tend to change and use on a daily basis. I can see myself repurchasing these items forever or at least till I get too old to pull them off.

Urban Decay Eye Primer Potion

This eye primer is a basic little thing, it doesn’t seem like it would be a complete staple in a make-up bag but if I forget to apply this, I seriously notice the difference. It makes my eyeshadow way more pigmented, it makes application smoother and it really does stop my eyeshadow from creasing or budging. It’s a small little tube but it’s lasted me almost a year and I’m probably just over half way through. I haven’t actually tried any other eye primers, Benefit apparently do a brilliant one; I just don’t feel the need to change when this one does wonders for me.

Estée Lauder Double Wear

If I had to make this question any harder and choose a top product of my top five, this would be it. I lot of people don’t get on with this foundation which is understandable because I have quite a specific skin type (oily, spot-prone, uneven, redness) so for this to be absolutely perfect for me, I can understand that it would maybe not be so good for others. However, I do know that if you love and get on with this foundation, it becomes your pot of holy grail wonder. I own other foundations which I like but this is my baby.

Chanel Illuminating Base

This primer is by far the best primer I’ve ever, ever used. It gives me a glow without making my oils a nightmare and my make-up looks so much smoother with it on. It’s extremely worth the £32 for me and I will repurchase it every time.

Bobbi Brown Gel Liner

This eyeliner is beautiful, it’s easy to apply and has a matte and neat finish which stays on all day without fail.

Urban Decay Naked Palette

The original Naked Palette is so worth the hype, the quality and shades are just insane. It doesn’t even looked that touched but I’ve used this pretty much every single day. Sin is my favourite lid colour with Toasted in the crease.

Beauty and fashion haul

Beauty
So, as I mentioned, I went shopping yesterday to Cardiff and picked up some bits and bobs. I had a dilemma with the Naked Palette because I was planning to get the second palette after adoring the first one – apparently I did need both of them in my life according to a few friends who have both so this was my plan. Yesterday morning, my world came crashing down when I dropped my Naked Palette and after a little debate with myself in Debenhams, I ended up replacing my original Naked Palette rather than buying the second palette like I had planned. Is it just me or is the word ‘palette’ starting to sound and look weird after this paragraph?
I repurchased some Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair because I adore it, I bought a new YSL lipstick in the colour ’12 Coral Incandescent’ purely because I had my eye on it but stopped myself, the lady at the counter then asked if she could help me with anything – this tempted me to just tell her to whack it in a bag for me quickly to avoid any guilt, but no, I still stayed strong. Another woman then came up and asked if she could help me so I caved and bought it. I can blame them.
I also bought a Lush lip scrub in bubblegum flavour because they are the absolute bomb at making my lips soft, plus you can actually lick the tasty sugar off after so it’s a treat. I did buy a Bobbi Brown lipgloss in ‘Bellini’ too but have left that at my mums, I probably won’t be ever getting this back. I’m actually quite surprised I bought this because I hate lipglosses on me usually for a reason I’ve never been able to pin point, I really love this though.

I will be doing some reviews and stuff on these in the future I’m sure 🙂

Fashion
This is probably going to be so boring for most of you because I love my plain, comfy clothing a lot and didn’t really buy anything ‘fashionable’. I went to Topshop and bought two pairs of my favourite Leigh jeans because they were £25 instead of £38, I also bought a plain white floaty cami which sounds boring but it looks really classy and pretty on – especially with a chunky necklace like the one I also bought from Topshop.
From River Island I bought another plain cami but in a hot pink colour, because why not? I also bought a cute crochet shell top which I’m wearing now so it isn’t in the photo. From H&M I bought a plain, white, long sleeved, knit, top thing which is very boring but I like it. Here is the horror story….Zara was closed…..flippin’ closed, after my post based purely on things I’m excited to buy from Zara, it was closed – I have no idea why. I ordered a pair of shoes online as soon as I got home from there, just because I felt it was necessary.

Now for the best purchase of all

20130331-184350.jpg
I went to the American candy store and got lots of Vanilla Coke. It was always my favourite but they decided to stop selling it in the UK. Now I have to buy it at a ridiculously overpriced cost!
